Preliminary Design

The Preliminary Design stage is where the Client’s requirements are brought together, produced in 3D visual form and developed with the client to achieve the ideal design ready for progressing to Planning and Building Warrant stages as required.

The Preliminary Design stage starts with establishing the scope of the project and the key requirements to be achieved. Sometimes this can be only a few key items on a ‘wish list’ which then need to be interpreted by the Architect in order to provide options.

The Architect will discuss with the client what the key priorities and requirements are and pull these together in a way which achieves the Client’s objectives while keeping in mind the most economic and effective methods for achieving the end product.

Often it’s the case that ‘We’re not sure what we want but we’ll know it when we see it!’ and so, if required, design suggestions in basic sketch form or 3D form can be provided incorporating basic ideas as well as moderate and also the higher end of what might be possible and then the key positive elements from each design model can be brought together to achieve the ideal solution.

The design process is carried out using 3D modelling software which can be emailed to the Client for the purpose of developing and progressing the design options to conclusion.

The Preliminary Design stage normally starts with a free, no obligation visit to meet the client at their property or site to discuss the main elements of the project. After initial discussions, if the Client wishes to progress with Preliminary Design then a fee quote will be provided outlining the scope of the service to be provided and the costs along with the conditions of Architect appointment.
